About Don

Comedy and fitness have been a part of my life ever since I was labeled “the fat kid” growing up in LA. If I told the fat joke first, I could avoid taunts from others. It worked as a survival strategy, but I didn’t just want to be the fat funny kid. At thirteen, I started taking fitness more seriously – playing football, taking up kickboxing, changing my diet. As the child of a single parent, I was responsible for my own food a lot of the time, so I resolved to make better choices for myself. By the time I was 15, I had lost over 35 lbs.

That success and the desire for more fueled my choice of studies: Exercise Science and Video Production. Not only could I keep working for my own health, but I could share my knowledge and excitement with others. Soon after graduating, I started working with clients, including celebrities like Chuck Woolery, Kirk Franklin, Macy Gray, and others. At the same time, I got to go to Hollywood to do open mic performances and watch my idols do the same.

I also began acting and joined SAG (the Screen Actors Guild), appearing on shows such as “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Spy TV.” But that wasn’t good enough; I wanted to take my stand-up delivery to the next level. So, I moved to Atlanta, working shows and mastering fitness. After winning the “Silver Nails Award’ for comedy and appearing on the reality show ‘He’s a Lady,” I was invited to Oprah, The View, Good Morning America, and others. At the same time, I owned a personal training facility where I developed a new workout class called “Tae Stick,” which combines kickboxing and Escrima stick fighting.

I’ve worked comedy clubs, colleges, corporate events, and cruise ships. That little fat kid from L.A. is living his dream traveling the world, making people laugh, and helping them live life to the fullest. Now, I’m sharing my passion for fitness and comedy through my new podcast series, Comedy Fitness. I want to show you how healthy living can be fun and attainable. It’s not about being at your best every second of every day; it’s about becoming better, one day at a time. So, let’s have some fun and “laugh our asses off” - literally.
